The Orchestra

An orchestra is a group of people that play different types of instruments. The families are brass, String, Percussion and Woodwind. The conductor is the man who controls the orchestra. One of the orchestra families is the string instruments.

The string instruments are played by being plucked or by being rubbed with a bow. There are other string instruments that are called the Harp and Cello. My favourite string instrument is called a violin.

Another family of instruments is the Percussion section. The percussion instruments make music by getting hit, stroked or shaken.

The Oboe is an instrument in the Woodwind family. All Woodwind instruments were originally made out of wood. The Woodwind instruments are played by blowing into the mouth piece.

Another family is called the Brass section. The Brass family is made out of shiny metal. The Brass family also is played by blowing air into them.

When these four musical families combine they make remarkable music.
